UCL GBSH Student Of The Week: Anjali Venkatesh
29 April 2025
From public health advocate to visionary leader, this week’s student spotlight is on Anjali Venkatesh, whose passion for health equity has brought her to the heart of healthcare transformation through the UCL MBA in Health.

Anjali Venkatesh has over two years of experience at the Williamson County and Cities Health District in Texas, where she served as Head of Quality and Strategic Management. There, she led initiatives in data infrastructure, policy development, and strategic planning to support at-risk populations. Her work involved developing data-driven solutions and contributing to leadership efforts that strengthened public health systems.
Before joining UCL, Anjali had already built a career grounded in public service and community engagement. She studied Microbiology at UC Berkeley, where, as Director of Community Partnerships for the Alternative Breaks Program, she facilitated service-learning trips that connected students with pressing social issues across the U.S. She also worked as a Resident Assistant, was a member of the Microbial Association and student government, and conducted research in both microbiology and public health, laying the foundation for her current work in healthcare innovation.

Her early dedication to service began in Austin, where she regularly volunteered with her family for organizations like the Austin Animal Shelter, Texas Refugee Services, and the Central Texas Food Bank. Her work with refugees inspired a lasting commitment to underserved communities, culminating in her receiving a Girl Scout Gold Award for helping displaced individuals reintegrate into the workforce.
Anjali’s leadership journey started in school, where she played basketball and competed in cross-examination debate, eventually serving as President of her high school debate team.
Beyond the classroom, Anjali is also the founder of Roots for a Cause, a socially driven business that reinvests profits into charitable initiatives. She continues to volunteer in her free time, ensuring her values stay rooted in service.
A true global citizen, Anjali’s love for travel allows her to gain diverse perspectives; insights she brings into classroom discussions and collaborative projects alike.

Now at UCL, Anjali is blending her deep public health insight with strong management skills to explore innovative ways of strengthening healthcare systems globally. Reflecting on her decision to study at the Global Business School for Health (GBSH), she shared:
"I pursued my MBA in Health at UCL to bridge my public health expertise with business acumen, aiming to create sustainable, large-scale solutions that improve healthcare access globally."
Anjali Venkatesh is not just a student of business and healthcare; she is a changemaker, redefining what it means to lead with purpose.
