24 November 2022
Our latest UCL GBSH student spotlight is with Social Media Ambassador Intan Cahyani, who is studying the MSc Global Healthcare Management (analytics route). Intan shares with us what she is enjoying studying at the moment, as well as advice for future applicants.
Why did you choose to apply for the MSc Global Healthcare Management (Analytics Route)?
Through my experiences as a front-line midwife and programme management officer, I have witnessed that there are still many issues in the healthcare system that need to be addressed, particularly regarding health-related data. Subsequently, I realised that it is crucial to create sustainable advances and provide a better approach by using healthcare management skills and accurate data analysis, as healthcare is a human right for all people. Thus, I chose this programme since it offers ideal comprehensive foundations to equip me with the skills that are highly needed to enhance my capacity further so that I would be able to contribute significantly to society and be one of the future healthcare changemakers.
Is there a particular area of global healthcare management that you are interested in? If so, why?
All the programme areas really interest me, providing a wide range of healthcare management and analytical skills. However, the areas that attract me the most are digital transformation and the potential usage of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare. On top of that, learning at one of the top universities in the world, as well as the first-ever business school for health in the world, is such a privilege.
What value do you feel this programme will add to your career moving forward?
The MSc Global Healthcare Management programme is enabling me with not only theoretical but also practical skills from many leading experts. It is an all-in-one programme that answers the trends and challenges in real professional health settings, thereby developing me as a healthcare practitioner to not only understand clinical problems but also gain health analytics and leadership managerial capabilities comprehensively. This programme is also offering me exceptional networking opportunities across many counterparts, as well as excellent career guidance.

Every day varies, but overall each module has an active in-depth learning approach and gets us involved in various teamwork group projects, which enables us to collaborate with other students from different backgrounds. Some days are pretty busy and productive, yet so much fun. The challenges just make it more exciting. During this programme, there are also loads of activities to do outside of just studying!
