GBSH Social Media Ambassador Sachi Bhutani shares her top tips for applying to the UCL Global Business School for Health!
If you are a prospective healthcare changemaker, then the MSc programmes at the UCL Global Business School for Health (UCL GBSH) are for you! The application process can be daunting but do not worry, if you are reading this then you’re already on the right track.
Here are some of my top tips for applying to the UCL GBSH:
Start your research early and start with the ‘why’
This one is obvious but starting early really gives you the time to think deeply about what you want to do and how you want to achieve that. The road from discovering more about the program to applying is long. Understand WHY you want to pursue the degree and let your reason guide you.
If you are interested in studying the MSc Global Healthcare Management, you need to choose which route you want to study as the programme offers 3 routes – Leadership, Finance and Analytics. Since the programme is both all-encompassing and specialised, it bodes well to know why you want to study the course to know what route fits you best.
Attend open days
This is possibly one of the best things you can do for yourself during the application process. Open days give you the opportunity to get a feel of GBSH in addition to getting a chance to hear from the faculty and student representatives. The information you receive on the open days is indispensable and it can really help you in tailoring your application to the program. You learn so much about what UCL has to offer outside of the program as well like clubs, societies and much more. Learn more about the UCL GBSH open events here.
Be yourself
While it is tempting to come across a certain way in the applications, the best thing to do is to be your most authentic self. Let your voice and your personality shine through. Reflect on your experiences and connect them to why you would be a good fit for the program. Make sure you highlight your relevant experiences and what you learnt from them to prepare you for a postgraduate programme at the UCL GBSH. Let the admissions committee know why you want to enroll in the master's program and how you will successfully contribute to the UCL community.
Speak to alumni or current students
UCL has a rich community of alumni, and it is always a good idea to reach out to former students to understand what the GBSH experience is like and how you can make the most of it. Admissions to UCL are highly competitive so make use of expert advice! UCL has ambassadors on the Unibuddy app that you can reach out to.
Apply on time
Don’t wait until the deadline to submit your application. Time is always of the essence in the application process. Be proactive to be successful.
Have faith in yourself and put your best foot forward. Best of luck!
