Honorary Professorship for Henry Yeung
17 March 2025
We are pleased to announce that Professor Henry Yeung has been appointed as an Honorary Professor.

Professor Yeung is the Choh-Ming Li Professor of Geography and Resource Management at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
This appointment follows Professor Yeung’s visit to UCL last year, during which he hosted a Departmental discussion on his recent book, Theory and Explanation in Geography (2024).
The event was highly successful, and his strong interest in the UCL Department of Geography led to the decision to formalise the relationship through an honorary professorship.
Over the next three years, Professor Yeung will contribute to the Department by giving guest lectures and meeting with students, particularly those interested in economic geography.
He has also offered to assist with the Department’s REF (Research Excellence Framework) preparations by serving as an external reviewer.
Professor Yeung said, "It’s my enormous honour to be associated with one of the greatest Geography departments in the world and to engage regularly with your outstanding faculty and students on research and education."
Head of Department, Professor Jason Dittmer, said, "Professor Yeung’s instant rapport with our staff and students made it an easy decision to invite him to be a regular part of departmental life. I know many of us are already looking forward to his next visit!"
Professor Yeung will be visiting the Department soon to meet with students and discuss topics including theory in geography and the geopolitics of semiconductor production networks in East Asia.
Further details will be announced soon.
