Tavistock Square is a quintessential fixture of Bloomsbury: historically, culturally, locally, yet it is also an evolving landmark of Britain’s global and historical relationships.

It is intimately bound to Britain’s colonial past and to the World Wars, as well as to literary figures like Charles Dickens and Virginia Woolf. This site-specific reading gathers together a series of short creative writings inspired by Tavistock Square's cultural geographies. Our readings will reflect academic, historic, imagined, and at times playful, responses to the Square.
