In November 1959, Jean Cocteau came to London to supervise rehearsals of a new production of his opera collaboration with Stravinsky, Oedipus Rex, and to paint a mural in the Notre Dame de France church. Join us as we explore Cocteau’s Soho to search for what’s left of the London he documented in his diary, to hear his lament for the disappearance of Dickensian London, and to see his Annunciation, Crucifixion and Assumption scenes complete with self portrait.
