About the lecture:

The lecture will be based on findings from the ‘Cultures of Decolonisation at UCL’ research project which was implemented by UCL’s Grand Challenges Cultural Understanding Working Group. The project was undertaken to map decolonisation efforts at UCL and to assess the extent to which the institution's norms and practices support decolonising research. Following the publication of the project report in 2022, further engagement with some UCL faculties and units show some initiatives have been undertaken to support the process of decolonising research in areas such as international research collaborations and research ethics, among others. The lecture will discuss some of these initiatives vis-à-vis findings from the project report, and highlight the opportunities and challenges that exist within UCL’s institutional set ups for decolonising research.
