About the lecture:
This lecture will explore the concept of ‘university urbanism’, considering the challenges and opportunities which universities face in their Interactions with urban neighbourhoods and cities. It will present UCL Urban Laboratory research in this field, with a particular focus on its collaborations with universities abroad (Gothenburg, Roma Tre, and UNIFESP, São Paulo), exploring models for evaluating university-city relationships, and describe Urban Lab’s academic involvement in the development of UCL East.

Clare Melhuish
Director at UCL Urban Laboratory
Clare Melhuish is Director of the UCL Urban Laboratory, a cross-faculty centre for urban research, dissemination and engagement. She is an architectural historian and urban anthropologist specialising in research on the processes and impacts of transformative ‘urban imaginaries’ and large-scale urban interventions.
