About the lecture:
In this Lunch Hour Lecture, UCL’s President & Provost Professor Michael Arthur will be joined by Professor Dame Hazel Genn, Vice Provost International & Advancement, to discuss his time at UCL.
Under the leadership of Professor Arthur UCL has gone from strength to strength. Previously, Vice Chancellor at Leeds from 2004-2013, during his time as President & Provost, UCL has established itself as a global top 10 university. His leadership has been instrumental in securing exceptional levels of research funding, enriching the education of our students, promoting equality and diversity, enhancing our estate and securing UCL’s financial sustainability for the long-term, including launching one of Europe’s most ambitious philanthropy and engagement campaigns.
Professor Arthur has led UCL to achieve all of this despite unprecedented external challenges.
With his time at UCL drawing to a close, Professor Arthur will be leaving UCL in the strongest possible position. This event is an opportunity to hear first-hand about his remarkable time at UCL and what he thinks the future holds for the university.
Audience members will be given the opportunity to ask questions during this event.

Professor Michael Arthur
President & Provost at UCL
UCL President & Provost Professor Michael Arthur is internationally renowned for his contribution to education and to medical research. He joined UCL in September 2013.
Professor Arthur is the former Chair of the Advisory Group for National Specialised Services (NHS), the Worldwide Universities Network and the Russell Group of Universities. He is a former Member of the Medical Research Council and a former US/UK Fulbright Commissioner.
