Antonia will present results from a large qualitative study she completed with colleagues in the Research Department for Medical Education, UCL Medical School, which identified many challenges to the work-life balance of post-graduate trainees and their well-being which negatively impacted upon learning and career progression. In the second part of the seminar, Antonia will talk about a collaboration with Prof Anna Cox and colleagues in the UCL Interaction Centre. The team have developed the iWARDs (Individualised Wellbeing and Resilience for Doctors) project which aims to develop interventions to improve junior doctors’ well-being. The seminar will discuss the workshops they developed to help postgraduate medical trainees develop self-care strategies and create microboundaries to support work-life balance through their use of technology. The workshops were evaluated as a research project and the findings and next steps of the evaluation will be explored.
