29 May 2025
Congratulations to Dr Selena Daly who has been awarded a Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship for 12 months.

Congratulations to Dr Selena Daly (Associate Professor in Italian Studies) who has been awarded a Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship from October 2025 to October 2026.
Dr Daly will use the fellowship to substantially complete her book project, "The World is Our Homeland: A Global History of Italian Emigration", which is currently under contract with Penguin Viking (US/Canada), Hodder (UK/Commonwealth) and Mondadori (Italy).
Beginning with Marco Polo's travels to China in the 1200s and following the trajectories of Italian migrants up to the present day, this book seeks to transform our understanding of how, when and why people from the Italian peninsula have moved around the globe over the last 800 years. The book employs a ‘global microhistory’ approach and positions the voice and experience of migrants at the centre of the narrative.
