'World Literatures and Northern Crossings - Translation, Circulation  and the Literary Semi-periphery’

In this talk I will present the research programme Cosmopolitan and Vernacular Dynamics in World Literatures, which ran from 2016 to 2022 at Stockholm University, funded by The Swedish Foundation for Humanities and Social Sciences, with Professor Stefan Helgesson as chair of the program. Then I will focus on the volume Northern Crossings. Translation, Circulation and the Semi-periphery (2023), which was the main outcome from the Translation Studies group in the programme. I will give you a short account of the premises of the volume, a brief overview of its system theory background, the methodology of the volume and some of the results and tendencies. I hope this will be inspiring and provoke discussion.

Yvonne Lindqvist is Professor in Translation Studies at Stockholm University.

All are welcome and there is no need to register.
