- You cannot take more than 150 credits at Level 4 across the four years of the programme.
- You must take at least 90 credits at Level 6 by the end of the programme.

The minor language needs to be discontinued in your fourth year.
Notes
- An A grade at A level (or equivalent qualification) in the appropriate language is required for students wishing to major in French, or Spanish. Dutch, German, Italian, Scandinavian languages and Russian and other SSEES languages that may be taken are offered as major languages with no prior knowledge.
- Bulgarian, Czech/Slovak, Finnish, Hungarian, Polish, Romanian, Serbian/Croatian, Ukrainian are available as minor languages in the UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies.
- Hebrew, Yiddish, Classical Greek, and Latin are offered as minor languages in the relevant UCL language department. Portuguese is offered as a minor language in the department of Spanish.
- Arabic and Mandarin, as well as French and Spanish ab initio are available as minor languages in the UCL Centre for Languages and International Education.
- French and Spanish can be taken as minor languages post-A level or equivalent in SELCS.
- A humanities or social science subject is not taken until the second year on the one major and one minor language route.
- The minor language is discontinued after Year Two.

Any language available at UCL may be taken as a minor language, regardless of whether you are studying ESPS or ISPS.
