Keon West on The Science of Racism
28 January 2025
Keon West, Professor of Social Psychology, talked a packed room through the main arguments of his latest book, exploring the scientific understanding of racism and its impact on society.

In a lively and engaging talk, Professor Keon West used data gathered during many years of quantitative scientific research to illustrate the many ways in which racism continues to take root in society - and discuss how best to tackle it. Chaired by UCL's Professor of Social Neuroscience, Lasana Harris, and introduced by the academic co-lead of our Black Europe series, Dr Hélène Neveu-Kringelbach (UCL Anthropology and SELCS), West's talk served as the pre-launch of his book The Science of Racism: Everything You Need to Know but Probably Don't—Yet, published by Macmillan imprint Picador and officially launched at Daunt Books in Marylebone the following day.
To purchase the book, see Pan Macmillan's website.
With thanks to Daunt Books for supporting the event through a pre-launch book sale.
