The Power of Communication in Diplomacy: A Masterclass with Federico Bianchi

On Wednesday 13th November we hosted a masterclass with Federico Bianchi, Spokesperson and Head of Press and Public Diplomacy at the EU Delegation to the UK.

The UCL European Institute was proud to welcome Federico Bianchi, Spokesperson and Head of Press and Public Diplomacy at the EU Delegation to the UK, to UCL for a student masterclass on the power of communication in diplomacy.

Drawing on his experience as Brexit communications lead at the EU Delegation to the UK, and a longstanding career in international relations, Federico Bianchi shared insights on the integral role communications plays in diplomacy. He reflected on the importance of nuanced and strategic messaging in an increasingly volatile global geopolitical context, where misinformation poses a growing challenge, and provided an opportunity for students to develop critical communications skills, through a guided interactive case-study exercise on Brexit communications.
