Monthly Spotlight, June 2024
1 June 2024
In this edition of our monthly spotlight we feature Professor Hélène Neveu Kringelbach and Undergraduate student Dora Fidler
In our Monthly Spotlight, we feature an academic and a student from the UCL community with an interest in Europe. If you are interested in being featured in a future edition, or would like to recommend someone, please contact us here.
Hélène Neveu Kringelbach
Hélène Neveu Kringelbach is an Associate Professor in African Anthropology with a shared appointment between SELCS and UCL Anthropology. She is an academic lead on the [Black Europe] workstream and has helped organise the Festival of Afro-European Arts, Performance, and Scholarship.
In her profile, Hélène writes:
I used to believe that Europe was about breaking down national, ethnic and racial boundaries while celebrating diversity in all its forms. Now I am not sure any more… That was probably quite naïve. Nevertheless Brexit was a massive disappointment.
Dora Fidler
Dora is in her first year at UCL studying a BA in Creative Arts and Sciences. She recently volunteered at the European Writers' Festival as part of the broader UCL partnership.
Dora writes:
I'm specifically interested in translated literature from across Europe and the breadth of experiences, cultures and perspectives represented by each country's literary canon.
