Are you interested in European politics, culture and identity?

Would you like to gain valuable hands-on experience advising UCL European Institute on how best to engage UCL students, acting as an Ambassador for the Institute in the student community, and coming up with new ideas for Europe-focused events and activities?

As a UCL European Institute Ambassador, you will work alongside a small group of fellow student volunteers, the UCL European Institute interns and UCL European Institute staff to help engage students in the work of the Institute, and contribute new ideas for Europe-focused events, content and activity at UCL.

This is an unpaid, voluntary role. However, all European Institute Ambassadors will be recognised and celebrated via the website, and will have the opportunity to shape their contributions/access opportunities in line with their areas of expertise or interest.

Open to all UCL students, across the disciplines and at any level of study. 

UCL European Institute Ambassadors will:

  • Promote the UCL European Institute, its role and activities to a student audience
  • Join one 1.5 hour meeting per term to contribute/brainstorm ideas about how the UCL European Institute can most effectively engage a student audience and identify topics/formats which may be of particular interest
  • Develop relationships with relevant student societies and explore opportunities for collaboration
  • Working with the UCL European Institute staff , help co-organise an annual networking social for European studies students at London universities

Additional activities, to be undertaken in line with individuals’ interest and/or capacity:

  • Support UCL European Institute events by acting as a steward [paid by the hour]
  • Organise and/or participate in student-led activity, in cooperation with UCL European Institute staff
  • Participate in UCL European Institute workshops, roundtables and advisory board meetings
  • Subject to interest/capacity, research and commission content for the UCL EI blog and website
