European Institute Advisory Board Members share career advice with UCL students

In a new video series, Exploring European Policy Careers, policy leaders from UCL European Institute’s External Advisory Board, reflect on their career trajectories and the skills they’ve needed to succeed, and pass on advice and guidance to UCL students considering a career in policy, or a related field.

Heather Grabbe is Director of the Open Society European Policy Institute in Brussels, the EU policy and advocacy branch of the Open Society Foundation. Charles Grant is the Director of the Centre for European Reform (CER), an independent think-tank based in London dedicated to making the EU work better and strengthening its role in the world. Sabina Ciofu is Head of EU and Trade Policy at techUK, the trade association representing the UK tech sector, and Sarah Taylor is Europe Director at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

Interviewees also recommend their favourite books about Europe, from Charles Grant’s Delors: Inside The House that Jacques Built, to Anu Bradford’s The Brussels Effect: How the European Union Rules the World and Hilary Mantel’s A Place of Greater Safety.
