Academic Director on Newsnight
29 August 2017

European Institute Academic Director and Dean of UCL Laws, Piet Eeckhout, appeared on Newsnight on Wednesday 23rd August to comment on the potential role of the ECJ in the UK post-Brexit.
Professor Eeckhout appeared on BBC Newsnight on the day in which the government published its position paper on judicial oversight and the Brexit withdrawal agreement.
Speaking as a leading expert on EU law, Professor Eeckhout commented that it would be difficult for the UK to escape the influence and jurisdiction of the ECJ post-Brexit, especially if it wishes to continue cooperating with the EU and participating in EU programmes and regulatory frameworks, such as in the field of aviation.
