Join us for an eye-opening exploration of the science behind the stories with Professor Keon West. Building on his upcoming book The Science of Racism: Everything You Need to Know but Probably Don't—Yet, West will discuss the profound and sometimes surprising ways racism continues to impact our society, based on decades' worth of quantitative scientific research. West will challenge common assumptions and reveal hidden truths about racism in society, from disparities in hiring practices to the financial costs faced by Black individuals online. The talk will be chaired by Lasana Harris, Professor of Social Neuroscience and Vice-Dean International at the UCL Division of Psychology & Language Sciences.

About the Speaker

Keon West

Professor Keon West is an acclaimed social psychologist and President of the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to research, teaching, media, and social activism. Known for his work on prejudice, sexual orientation, and sexual health, he has appeared widely as an expert commentator, including on BBC World Service, BBC Radio 4, and Channel 4. His latest book, The Science of Racism, presents groundbreaking insights that offer a fresh, science-backed perspective on race, prejudice, and inequality.
