We are delighted to announce two key appointments for UCL Estates: Executive Director of Estates Development and Director of Health and Safety. Julie Whetton and Joanna Carrington will be joining us in the new academic year.
Julie Whetton joins us on 11 September as our new Executive Director of Estates Development. She is an experienced property professional and chartered surveyor, having worked nationally and internationally across the private, corporate, and public sectors and led the Property Management and Strategy teams at NHS Property Services, where she optimised the diverse national estate of around 3000 properties. At ExxonMobil she worked across Europe, Middle East and Africa, as a Master Planner and Asset Portfolio Manager where she supported them in aligning the fast-changing business needs with real estate, as well as overseeing strategy, transactions and capital projects in numerous countries.
Together with Ian Dancy, Executive Director of Operations, Julie will work on delivering our Estates Strategy and co-leading our Estates team.
30 October will see the arrival of Joanna Carrington, our new Director of Health and Safety.
Joanna has extensive experience in Higher Education Health and Safety management and leadership and is joining us from the City of London Corporation, where she was the Director of Health and Safety, and Head of Profession. Joanna is an enthusiastic Health and Safety leader with 17 years of university experience, a level 6 national diploma in Occupational health and safety, and a Chartered Member of IOSH.
Patrick Ward will continue as Interim Director of Health and Safety until early November, working closely with Joanna as we prepare for her arrival.
Executive Director of Operations, Ian Dancy, said “I’m incredibly pleased to be welcoming Julie and Joanna to the Estates team, and looking forward to working with them both as we work to deliver our Estates Strategy, seeking to optimise our incredibly complex and diverse estate and deliver a great experience to all our campus users. I’m sure you will join me in congratulating and welcoming Julie and Joanna when they arrive.”
