B-MEntor: cross-institutional mentoring for staff from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds

We are looking for mentors and mentees to participate in our mentoring schemes for Academic, Research and Professional Services staff from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.
What is B-MEntor?
B-MEntor Academic and Professional Services are two well-established mentoring programmes that offer a unique platform for Black, Asian, Mixed and minority ethnic Academic, Research and Professional Services staff to strengthen their skills and improve their networking capability through cultivating cross-institutional relationships.
The programme supports UCL’s commitment to delivering pipeline interventions through Positive Action as part of its commitment to the Race Equality Charter Mark and UCL's Race Equality Implementation Plan.
Which institutions are participating in B-MEntor?
B-MEntor is run by University College London in partnership with Queen Mary University of London, King’s College London, University of the Arts London, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).
Who is eligible to participate?
- Mentees: Academic and Research staff at Post-Doctoral to Lecturer level and Professional Services staff from grades 5-7 who self-identify as being from a Black, Asian and minority ethnic background.
- Mentors: Academic and Research staff at Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor/Reader or Professorial level and Professional Services staff from grades 7-10 from any ethnic background.
What does the scheme involve?
The mentoring period will be approximately one year, and a training and support package is offered for all parties. The selection and matching of mentors and mentees will take place from late January 2025. Mentors and Mentees must be available to attend one of the mandatory online training sessions we are running from December 2024 to January 2025.
