Out @UCL and Friends of Out @UCL Networking Lunch

24 May 2018 - 12pm to 2pm, Roberts 422, Roberts Building

Professor Anthony Smith, LGBTQ+ champion on the Provost's Senior Management Team, invites members of UCL's LGBTQ+ staff community and friends to an informal networking lunch where you can catch up with old friends and make new ones! Lunch is provided so please contact equalities@ucl.ac.uk to RSVP, mentioning any dietary requirements. 


Section 28 and Its Legacies

24 May 2019 - 6pm to 8pm, Darwin Lecture Theatre, Darwin Building

qUCL and Out @UCL are holding an event to mark the 30th anniversary of the passing of Section 28, which legislated against the promotion of homosexuality in schools in Great Britain. The panel discussion and Q&A session will be followed by a drinks reception. Sex and Migration

4 June 2018 - 6pm to 8pm, Darwin B40 Lecture Theatre, Darwin Building

Samira is a short film about the life history of Karim, an Algerian migrant man selling sex as a transvestite at night in Marseille. Karim left Algeria as a young man when his breast started developing as a result of taking hormones. He was granted asylum in France as a transgender woman, Samira. This screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director, Professor Nick Mai (Kingston University). Booking link to follow.


Queer Visibility in Young Adult Fiction

7 June 2018 - 6pm to 8pm, Gay's The Word Bookshop, 66 Marchmont Street, WC1N 1AB

The event will take a form of a panel discussion, which will explore the theme of how queer characters are represented within contemporary young adult fiction. The events will be chaired by Dr Erica Gillingham, who recently completed her PhD in Children's Literature at Roehampton, and currently works part-time at Gay's the Word. Booking link to follow. 


Hide and Seek: A Queer Tour of Bloomsbury

8 June 2018 - 6pm onwards, Event Location TBC

Join us for an evening saunter through the streets of Bloomsbury. From writers and artists to cruisers and boozers, this event will throw light on the people and places that have contributed to the area's queer histories. Beginning with an opening drinks reception and informal talk at UCL, participants will be encouraged to form impromptu groups, issued with route maps, and set off on a whistle-stop tour of the neighbourhood's diverse LGBTQ+ heritage. Volunteer pop-up 'guides' will be on hand to recount stories connected with specific locations along the way.

LGBTQ+ Equality at UCL - A celebration!

12 June 2018 - 5pm to 8pm, Wilkins Terrace, Wilkins Building

Following UCL's inclusion in the Stonewall 2018 Top 100 Employer Index earlier this year, we are delighted to be holding a drinks reception for the entire UCL community to celebrate the result and to mark many of Out @UCL's and the wider community's achievements over recent years in promoting LGBTQ+ equality. The evening will offer a chance to celebrate our achievements so far but also to reflect on where we must improve and how we move forward. To RSVP for this event, please click here.


Pride in London 2018

7 July 2018, Central London

Out @UCL will be marching in Pride in London parade once again this year. We will invite all members of UCL's staff community, whether LGBTQ+ or a friend, to march with us on the day - we promise it will be a day you won't forget! Please email us at out@ucl.ac.uk to book your place.
