Stonewall Workplace Equality Index

Stonewall's Workplace Equality Index 2018 revealed that UCL is among the Top 100 Employers of LGBTQ+ staff

The 'Stonewall Top 100 Employers' is a list of the best performing employers on Stonewall's Workplace Equality Index 2018, an annual audit of workplace culture for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans staff.

UCL ranked 98th out of the 434 employers, who submitted entries to the 2018 Index, across the public, private and third sectors. 
As part of the Index, there was a staff feedback questionnaire that UCL asked staff to complete. 
All of the Top 100 entries (including UCL) are members of Stonewall's Diversity Champions programme.

UCL's submission demonstrated our performance against a set of best practice criteria.

Supporting evidence had to be provided for the criteria, which explored ten areas of employment policy and practice: 

  • Employee policy
  • The employee lifecycle
  • The LGBTQ+ employee network group
  • Allies and role models
  • Senior leadership
  • Monitoring
  • Procurement
  • Community engagement
  • Clients, customers and service used
  • Additional work.
