2012 Seminar Series
Title: ‘Linked electronic health records for research: opportunities at UCL’
Speaker: Professor Harry Hemingway
Date & Time: Friday 15th June 1pm-2pm
Venue: G37 & G38
It is widely claimed that the UK has the potential to lead the world in research based on linking records between different parts of the health system, including primary and hospital care, and other sources. Hope or hype? MRC, Wellcome, NIHR, BHF, CRUK and other funders are establishing a UK Network of Centres, with interviews – including for the proposed UCL Centre - next week.
This talk will:
a. Discuss some recent (focussing on last 3 months!) developments in this field, particularly in relation to research opportunities at UCL and UCL Partners.
b. Present some findings from CALIBER (Cardiovascular disease research using Linked Bespoke studies and Electronic Records).
c. Argue that as a Department and Institute we could have a substantial impact in this field.
Please come armed with searching questions!
