My PhD Title: Implications of digital health innovations on the demand, use, cost and experiences of health and social care services

Supervisors: Dr Manuel Gomes, Dr Fiona Aspinal and Dr Jean Ledger

Lay summary: Digital health innovations such as mobile applications and wearables are increasingly being used to promote improved health of people with a range of physical and mental health conditions.

The focus of the PhD project is on intended and unintended effects of digital health innovations on patient demand, service use, health service costs and patient experience. A mixed-methods approach will be used including quantitative analyses of routinely collected data and a qualitative exploration of stakeholder experiences. This project involves collaboration with Nuffield Trust, Care City and East London Health and Care.

I worked from 2017 to 2019 as a Research Assistant at King’s College London on trial-based economic evaluations.

I have also gained experience working in public sector audit at KPMG and university administration at the University of West London.
