Based in the UCL Institute of Epidemiology and Health Care, the integrated BSc in Primary Health Care is the longest running primary care BSc in the UK. This programme offers a unique combination of ongoing clinical experience (students are attached to a designated general practitioner tutor) and the acquisition of academic skills relevant to a career in clinical medicine.

 The programme provides the students with theoretical knowledge in the following areas:

  • Research methodology
  • Ethics and governance of applied health research

By the end of the programme students will have acquired an understanding of:

  • The key concepts of clinical science as applied to medicine
  • Clinical research methodology

In addition they would also gain:

  • An appreciation of ethical and governance requirements of research
  • The ability to evaluate scientific literature
  • The ability to design and complete a research project
