UCL Health and Society Summer School: Social Determinants of Health

UCL Main Entrance

We are planning for the one week non-residential UCL Health and Society summer school: Social Determinants of Health to be held next summer at UCL in central London. Dates will announced in early 2021.

The summer school is organised by the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health. It provides an in-depth assessment of the social determinants of health from a global research, policy and governance perspective. Participants will have numerous opportunities for discussion over the one week course.

COVID-19 planning: We have every hope that the event will run face-to-face, however due to the uncertainty of the pandemic we cannot guarantee that the event will go ahead as planned. We hope that by 2021 we will have clear government guidance on holding such events and the measures that will need to be put in place. Please note that as guidance changes we must adapt the event to fit in with this.

Professor Sir Michael Marmot will open the summer school with a presentation on the social determinants of health and close the week with a lecture and discussion on national and international policy development.
