Geographic mobility of long-term childhood cancer survivors

Richard Feltbower, Adam Glaser and Roger Parslow, University of Leeds

(Project no. 30010)

The study aims to investigate the re-integration into society of survivors from childhood cancer. We have chosen as a proxy measure the geographic mobility of these long-term survivors of cancer in Yorkshire. The data is derived from a population-based young person's Cancer Registry and is part of the UK Association of Cancer Registries.

We would like to compare the likelihood of the general population moving (aged under 30 if possible) over a fixed period of time (eg, 5, 10 or 15 years), or the proportion of movers in the Yorkshire Region between say the 1981 and 1991 Census. We are interested in migration over time and adjusted by age group, sex and county of residence (if available). We would also be interested in data if available at a reasonable cost for smaller areas.
