Study

The Institute of Epidemiology and Health Care is a centre of teaching excellence that offers world class education and training in a wide range of subjects.

Academics at ICLS all contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research degree supervision. Our Director Yvonne Kelly also heads up the Soc-B Centre for Doctoral Training in Biosocial Research.

A small number of ESRC funded PhD students are based at the Centre where they are supervised by multi-disciplinary panels, offered taught courses in statistics, take part in a weekly seminar programme and quarterly scientific workshops. Other PhD researchers are offered long-term attachments to ICLS scientific programme projects in order to gain apprentice-style experience of working in a research team.

 There is also a big focus on impact, with students learning about how to communicate their findings to academic and non-academic audiences effectively.
