The economic and social outcomes of migration in Britain

Neli Demireva, University of Essex

(Project no. 2003916)

The aim of this project is to understand the relationship between local areas and the socioeconomic circumstances of individuals belonging to different ethnic groups over their life course. This research will use the ONS Longitudinal Study (LS) and logistic regression to ascertain these differences. It carries significant public benefit because most research on ethnic labour market disadvantage has been crosssectional, and even when longitudinal, little is known about how change in local area affects individuals’ labour market prospects over time, particularly that of different ethnic groups. It is expected that findings from this research will be published in peerreviewed journals in 2025.
