Apart from topical knowledge, the Research Department of Epidemiology and Public Health has a wide range of methodological skills and expertise, including the following:

Alcohol Research Interest Group (ARIG)

The Alcohol Research Interest Group (ARIG) was formed for UCL researchers who are studying the areas of alcohol use and misuse to share information, resources, and research ideas with each other. 

Many of the members work within the discipline of epidemiology, but membership of the group is open to all interested researchers. ARIG's current focus is to organise joint research projects as well as run an active seminar series.

CeLSIUS

The Centre for Longitudinal Study Information and User Support is an ESRC-funded group based at UCL. We help UK academic, statutory and voluntary sector researchers to use the Office for National Statistics (ONS) Longitudinal Study (LS). This service is free to the user.

WHO Commission on Social Determinants of Health

In March 2005, Porfessor Sir Michael Marmot began chairing the WHO Commission on Social Determinants of Health. Its aim was to review and assess global evidence about the drivers of health inequalities and support countries and global health partners in addressing the social factors leading to ill health and health inequities. The highly influential report, 'Closing the Gap in a Generation' was published in August 2008.
