Maximising the impact of cervical cancer control policies

Each year, around 3,000 women in the UK are affected by cervical cancer.  Cervical screening and HPV vaccination have the potential to significantly reduce incidence and mortality from the largely preventable disease.  Uptake of both programmes is sub-optimal, particularly in some population sub-groups and behavioural science has an important role to play in understanding non-participation.  This work aims to develop a typology of non-participants in screening and vaccination and to design and test targeted interventions to increase informed uptake.

The project has been active since January 2015 and is funded by a 6 year Cancer Research UK career development fellowship awarded to Dr Jo Waller.
