Colorectal cancer screening uptake

The main aims of this project are to understand why colorectal cancer screening uptake rates in the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme fail to reach the levels observed for the breast and cervical screening programmes and why there are large socioeconomic inequalities in uptake. The current focus is on trends in screening uptake among first-time invitees since the screening programme commenced in 2006.

This project is funded by Cancer Research UK through a Programme Grant (2012-2018) awarded to Prof Jane Wardle.
