Research Project:
I am currently working on the patients’ experience of using the NHS bowel cancer screening program. I will be developing a series of patient-reported experience measures that consist of three questionnaires examining the patients’ experience, including those who participate and individuals who did not complete one or more aspects of the bowel cancer screening pathway. The first questionnaire is regarding the Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) information materials, the day of the screening, and any side effects for those with positive FIT results and requires further investigation with either a colonoscopy or Computed Tomographic Colonography (CTC). The second questionnaire is for FIT negative participants, who don’t need further investigations. Lastly, I might also develop FIT non-participants questionnaire for those who did not send back their stool test kit. I aim to use patient-reported experience data to improve bowel cancer screening acceptability and reduce modifiable barriers to non-participation.
