Jonas is a qualified ARB architect with a M-Arch from the Mackintosh School of Architecture and a MSc in Earthquake Engineering with Disaster Management from UCL. He is passionate about improving the resilience of vulnerable communities to natural hazards, and is committed to translating complex challenges into impactful, structured and innovative solutions. His professional experience ranges from the design of semi-permanent shelters for refugees in Nepal to the design and delivery of large scale residential and infrastructure projects in London, Japan and Germany.
Jonas is currently undertaking doctoral research under the supervision of Prof. Tiziana Rossetto on the multi-hazard vulnerability and resilience of coastal communities within the Indian Ocean. This includes earthquakes, extreme coastal flooding and cyclones. The research evaluates the vulnerability and emergency response capacity of health service infrastructure in particular, while also assessing its interdependency with other critical services.
