Area of Research / Academic Interests

The aim of my research is to develop a method for assessing the likely damage to critical urban infrastructure caused by earthquakes, taking into account infrastructure interdependencies. The research is sponsored by EPSRC and the Willis Research Network, with the final aim being to support Willis and the wider international financial industry in their strategy towards the establishment of smart financial instruments dedicated to urban critical infrastructure. I am also more widely interested in natural hazard risk assessment and decision support methodologies for mitigation planning and post-event response.
