UCL and Tsinghua University sign a Memorandum of Understanding to Enhance Collaboration in Civil Eng

4 December 2024

A new partnership between UCL and Tsinghua University (THU) has been launched to foster closer academic ties in the field of civil engineering

MoU signing

On 25 November 2024, UCL CEGE and THU School of Civil Engineering celebrated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at collaboration in research and education in civil engineering. The agreement was formalised during the visit by the UCL’s Provost Michael Spence delegation to THU.

The MoU was promoted by Prof Dina D’Ayala, leading the UNESCO Chair on Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience Engineering at UCL, building on the well-established relationship with THU’s Institute for Future Cities and Infrastructures, of which Professor Dongping Fang is the Deputy Director.

The MoU was signed by Professor Geraint Rees, Vice-Provost of UCL, and Professor Dongping Fang, Dean of THU School of Civil Engineering. This strategic partnership sets the framework for both parties to solidify joint research engagement, staff and student exchange programmes, and the development of scientific workshops between academics to promote collaboration in the field of civil engineering.

The MoU is strengthened by the appointments as Honorary Professors of Professor Dongping Fang to the UCL CEGE Department and of Professor Dina D’Ayala to THU School of Civil Engineering.
