“EPICentre, University of Hawaii, HR Wallingford and London south Bank University conduct a successful CPD course on new building code provisions for tsunami loads and effects”

The course was divided into two sessions. In the morning, Prof. Robertson, delivered a training seminar with an overview of the new ASCE 7-16 tsunami design provisions, along with examples on how to use these provisions in the design of coastal buildings. In the afternoon session, new research developments in tsunami engineering were shared by Prof. William Allsop from HR Wallingford,Dr David McGovern  from London South Bank University, and UCL EPICentre’s Dr Christian Klettner and Prof Tiziana Rossetto.With the presence of Prof. Ian Robertson from University of Hawaii at Manoa, a successful CPD course titled “New Building Code Provisions for Tsuami Loads and Effects” was delivered on 19 December at UCL.

The course was co-badged with the Society for Earthquake and Civil Engineering Dynamics (SECED), and counted the presence of researchers from UCL and Brunel University, and professional engineers from companies such as ARUP, CH2M and Mott MacDonald.
