Whether you’re struggling to close deals or want to feel more empowered in your conversations, this session will help you use frameworks and techniques that successful freelancers use to grow their businesses.

This workshop is open to students, staff and recent graduates (within 2 years of graduating) who are new to freelancing or just keen to learn more.

Through group activities, real-world examples, and actionable strategies, you’ll learn about core principles to help you communicate your value, set your rates, and navigate client negotiations without hesitation.

- Understand effective sales strategies for freelancers: Gain clarity on how to identify client needs, tailor your messaging, and handle common sales objections in a way that feels authentic.
- Learn how to approach pricing with a business mindset: Explore different pricing models, understand key factors that influence rates, and recognise when and how to adjust pricing based on context.
- Strengthen negotiation skills to protect your value: Learn techniques to navigate negotiations with confidence, address uncomfortable topics, and maintain strong client relationships without sacrificing your worth.
About the tutor
Ramat Tejani is a multi-award-winning marketing strategist, TEDx speaker, community builder and storyteller who also happens to be a woman in tech. She’s Chief Encouragement Officer at The Inspiration Box, a consultancy dedicated to encouraging self-mastery and intentional personal development. As Strategic Partnerships Lead for EMEA at Google, she drives initiatives to diversify the talent pipeline through thoughtful engagements.
