Develop ideas and learn how to set up a venture

Test the potential of your ideas, and learn what’s involved in setting up an entrepreneurial venture, such as a business, side hustle or not-for-profit, with these practical programmes.

Explore your entrepreneurial idea

For: All students, staff and recent graduates
Location: UCL BaseKX (near King's Cross), UCL East, or online
Duration: 6 weeks (2 hours a week)

This free programme will help you start to turn an idea or passion into a viable business, side hustle, not-for-profit, social enterprise, or other entrepreneurial project.


You'll work alongside other entrepreneurs to sharpen your skills, stress test your ideas and establish a market for your new venture.

You'll also have the chance to win a share of £2,000 prize money.

SPERO Learn: How to start an entrepreneurial venture (for researchers)

For: All research students, research staff, and recent research graduates
Location: Online or UCL BaseKX (near King's Cross)
Duration: 21 hours (over a number of days)

This free programme provides a practical introduction to entrepreneurship.


You'll learn how to establish an impactful venture, such as business, side hustle, not-for-profit, social enterprise, or other enterprising project within a bigger organisation (academia or industry).

You'll also have the chance to win a share of £2,000 prize money.
