If you’re a PhD student working on an idea that shows potential, the university has the people and processes in place to help you explore your commercial opportunities.
Your first point of contact should be your supervisor. You can also talk to the Dean of your faculty.
If they agree with your assessment, they’ll be able to refer you to a UCLB business manager who will set out your options and identify your next steps.
Intellectual property rights (IPR)
You’ll find details about your rights and how they apply to collaborative or externally sponsored work in UCL's Intellectual Property Policy (you'll need your UCL login to access).
