Intellectual Property Policy

Overview  

The policy aims to provide a clear, supportive framework for managing IP issues, for both staff and students. 

It covers ownership, use and management of IP created at UCL. 

The policy recognises:

• staff ownership of copyright in scholarly and teaching materials 
• the principles of student ownership of IP generally

It also clarifies any variations or exceptions to the above.

The policy sets out how staff and students can identify and protect any IP they’ve created, to apply their ideas outside the university.
