2 March 2021

UCL IOE has been appointed by the Department for Education (DfE) to deliver a national professional development programme for early career teachers.

As part of the Early Career Framework (ECF), new teachers are entitled to a fully-funded, two-year package of structured training and support.  The ECF is part of the DfE’s strategy to recruit and retain new teachers.

The IOE is to develop this programme of training and support, based on research evidence.

The programme will be designed and delivered in partnership with new Teaching School Hubs and other delivery partners. It will recruit thousands of teachers and mentors each year, for an initial period of four years. The programme will start in September 2021.

This work is being supported through UCL Consultants, part of UCL Innovation & Enterprise. UCL Consultants makes it easier for organisations and academic staff to work together.
