The new Women in Business category, sponsored by Superdrug, recognises and celebrates Croydon’s wealth of female talent across every sector of the business world.

When Yuliana isn't giving students and staff at UCL expert business advice, she manages her own business ‘My Outspace Business Centre’ – a social enterprise which offers flexible workspace and high quality business support tailored to the needs of female entrepreneurs.

Yuliana, who was was one of ten finalists in the category, said: “I'm honoured to receive this award and delighted to champion the way we can all encourage more women to consider entrepreneurship as a credible career choice here at UCL.

“Last year 870 women-led companies with a turnover of £1m to £250m contributed over £3bn to the UK economy, according to a new survey. The survey also found that women-led businesses ‘punch above their weight’ in driving economic growth in their local communities. However, not enough is done to celebrate and promote women in entrepreneurship.”

Dr Celia Caulcott, Vice-Provost (Enterprise), said: “Yuliana’s success demonstrates the kind of talent and expertise we have here at UCL Innovation & Enterprise. Our team is dedicated to helping UCL staff and students transform their knowledge and ideas into action.”
