25 October 2017
UCL Innovation & Enterprise welcomed the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and leaders from CBI member organisations to a Director's Roundtable on Innovation on Wednesday 25 October.
Dr Martin Davies, Director of Innovation and Business Partnerships, welcomed leaders from a wide range of industry sectors and CBI members to BaseKX, a dedicated hatchery and events space for UCL's staff and student startup enterprises. He underlined the importance of UCL and the higher education sector to innovation in London and the UK.
Tom Thackray, Director of Innovation at the CBI, then led a discussion on the future and importance of innovation for British businesses.
The event highlighted the role that UCL and the higher education sector play and contribute to the UK's economy, working with partners including the CBI, to enable industry to innovate, and to develop new products, markets and customers.
Dr Martin Davies said: "It was a pleasure to host today's exciting roundtable with the CBI. This was an important opportunity to discuss the innovation agenda and the vital role that UCL and other universities can play in driving innovation across the UK economy."
UCL is a member of the CBI and works in partnership with businesses and trade organisations from every sector of the economy.
