Overview

This 4-hour workshop is for anyone who wants to create a compelling pitch deck and deliver it with confidence.

You’ll learn storytelling techniques, slide design fundamentals, and public speaking tips, then put them into practice by building your own pitch deck.

The workshop ends with a mini 'demo day' where you’ll present your pitch and receive live feedback from peers and the facilitator.

Who it’s for

This workshop is open to all UCL students, staff, and alumni who graduated from UCL within the past 2 years.

As this is a bootcamp-style workshop, where you’ll be creating a complete pitch deck, we encourage you to come with a business idea or project in mind.

For help coming up with ideas, come to one of our 2-hour introductory sessions:

UCL doctoral students will receive two DocSkills training points via InkPath and the Doctoral School for completing this workshop.

What to expect

This is a bootcamp-style workshop where you’ll work on creating a pitch deck for your business idea or project throughout the entire session.

The workshop will end with a mini ‘demo day’ experience. This will give you the chance to practise pitching and receive personalised feedback from peers and the facilitator on your pitch content and delivery.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a:

  • complete, investor-ready pitch deck for your business or project
  • storytelling framework to structure your pitch for maximum impact
  • slide design checklist for clear and persuasive visuals
  • list of essential pitch deck slides for startups (problem, solution, market, traction, team, 'the ask')
  • delivery skills guide to improve confidence and presence

What you’ll learn

In this workshop you’ll learn:

  • how to structure a compelling pitch using storytelling frameworks
  • how to design impactful slides that support your narrative
  • public speaking techniques for confidence and authenticity
  • how to tailor your pitch for investors, customers, or stakeholders
  • how to deliver a pitch that is clear, persuasive, and memorable
  • how to handle Q&A and challenging audience questions with poise
