Strategy priority: People and culture

This priority is about empowering UCL’s community to achieve innovative and impactful knowledge exchange.

Nurturing the aspirations of UCL’s community to grow innovative, entrepreneurial and impactful mindsets, we strive to create a safe and inclusive culture that empowers our students, graduates and staff to engage externally. We will build capacity and capabilities for knowledge exchange across UCL, supporting faculty-led ambitions, while promoting resources and funding that champions novel, bold and advanced thinking.

Skills development and capacity building

We will develop the skills, knowledge and experience necessary for UCL staff and students to engage in knowledge exchange.

By training and equipping our future leaders to deliver world-changing knowledge exchange and innovation, we will ensure our community are well positioned to translate, adapt and apply research and innovation to the rapidly evolving world beyond UCL.

Recognition and reward

We will recognise individuals for their time and dedication in engaging with knowledge exchange and innovation activities, celebrating and showcasing our efforts and successes.

We will seek to reward ambition and foster successful knowledge exchange activities to maximise impact.

This will encourage more of UCL’s community to engage in the breadth of knowledge exchange pathways, while continuing to improve the quality and outcomes of that engagement.

Knowledge exchange frameworks and mechanisms

We will ensure UCL’s frameworks, policies and internal processes support the UCL community’s ambitions and aspirations for knowledge exchange and innovation and will work to address and remove barriers to impactful activity at UCL.

By promoting a spirit of enterprise, innovation and impact, we will ensure our whole community can benefit from the diversity and innovation of all within a safe, inclusive, effective environment.
