Equality, Diversity & Inclusion in UCL English
The English Department Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee, formed in Autumn 2020, is a committee designed to consider ideas, proposals, and complaints relating to diversity in the Department. The Committee will establish a means for ongoing dialogue and for promoting racial equality, diversity, and inclusion within the English Department, and where appropriate putting suggestions forward for approval at the Board of Studies. The Committee meets once a term, and the minutes of the meetings and the action plan are available to all English Department staff and students on the English Department's Moodle Resources Home Page.
The committee consists of six staff members and six students. The six staff members include the Department’s Inclusion Lead, acting as the Committee's Chair; the Department Head; Department Tutor; Graduate Tutor; Athena Swan Lead; and Undergraduate Admissions Tutor. A member of the Professional Services team also serves on the committee and takes minutes. The six student representatives include three undergraduate students (one representing each year of the BA programme), two MA students, and one PhD student.
