Equality, Diversity & Inclusion in UCL English
The English Department Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee, formed in Autumn 2020, is a committee designed to consider ideas, proposals, and complaints relating to diversity in the Department. The Committee will establish a means for ongoing dialogue and for promoting racial equality, diversity, and inclusion within the English Department, and where appropriate putting suggestions forward for approval at the Board of Studies. The Committee meets once a term, and the minutes of the meetings and the action plan are available to all English Department staff and students on the English Department's Moodle Resources Home Page.
The committee consists of staff and student representatives. The staff members include the Department’s Inclusion Lead (who chairs the committee); the Head of Department; the Department Tutor; the Graduate Tutor; the Undergraduate Admissions Tutor; and a Professional Services representative. Another member of Professional Services staff takes minutes. The student representatives include (as a minimum) three undergraduate students (at least one representing each year of the BA programme), two MA students, and one PhD student. Any other student may attend any meeting of the committee if they give a week's notice to the Inclusion Lead.
