From time to time UCL Engineering runs competitions for students and other audiences. Details of the terms and conditions can be found here

Terms and Conditions for UCL Engineering Instagram Competition 2022 (Poetry competition)


Promoter:

 

  • The UCL (University College London) Engineering Digital Innovation Unit Team is organising the competition. 
  • The competition is in no way sponsored, administered or endorsed by Instagram, Facebook or any other social network. 
  • You are providing your information to the UCL Engineering and that will only be used for the purposes of the competition and prizes related. 

Eligibility: 


The entrants must:

  • be currently registered UCL Engineering students (taught or research)
  • agree that only text, photos, imagery or other media will be submitted via the competition form to be eligible. 
  • acknowledge that by submitting their entry via the form, students are agreeing to these terms and conditions and that their submitted image, full name, and caption can be posted on the UCL Engineering Faculty Instagram page.
  • agree that if their work is selected, then it can be used in promotional material on other social media in order to publicise the competition 
  • ensure that texts, photos or other media submitted is the property of the entrant and any individuals featured in the image have given their consent for it to be shared for the UCL Engineering Team Instagram competition. 
  • not submit an image that has a watermark, any text on it, or is unrelated to the competition
  • not submit an image and caption which is defamatory of any person or contains any sensitive or inappropriate material. 

How to enter and competition details:

 

  • The entrant (group or solo) should submit a piece of poetry about engineering in the form of either a written piece, imagery or video.
  • For this competition, we define a “group” as two people or more. The group should be composed of UCL Engineering students only.
  • To be eligible, the entrant should submit their work via the UCL Engineering Poetry Competition form.
  • Entrants will receive a direct email, acknowledging that their poem has been chosen to be posted on the UCL Engineering Faculty Instagram account. This correspondence might ask for the name of the entrant and/or name of the other students featured in the submitted media.
  • Entries for submission open at 10 am on Monday 21 March 2022 and close at 4 pm on Saturday 30 April 2022. Entries received after this period will not be considered.
  • The competition will end on Saturday 30 April 2022 at 4 pm, and a judging panel comprised of the UCL Engineering Digital Innovation Unit team will shortlist five poems on Monday 3 May 2022. A judging panel comprised of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences team will then rank the shortlisted photos by order of preference between Monday 3 May 2022 and Monday 10 May 2022. Following this ranking, the poem with the overall highest score will be announced as the winner as part of the UCL Engineering Poetry Competition on Instagram later in May 2022.
  • UCL Engineering Digital Innovation Team reserve the right to change the dates outlined for the competition at any stage. Alternatively, they reserve the right to cancel the competition at any stage and all participants will be notified if this occurs.

The prize:

 

  • The winning poem(s) will be featured on UCL Engineering social media. The winner might be asked to provide an alternative caption for social media content.
  • The prizes will be National Book Tokens. First prize will receive a £40 Book Token, Second Prize will receive a £30 Book Token, Third Prize will receive a £20 Book Token. 
  • The winner/entrant will be notified during the week of Monday 10 May 2022 and if the winner/entrant does not respond within five calendar days after being contacted, or does not accept the prize(s), the Digital Innovation Unit Team may select another winner in accordance with the process described above.
  • Prizes are non-transferrable and no cash alternative will be offered. No correspondence will be entered into if an individual feels another decision regarding the winner, prize, or anything related to the competition should have been made.
  • Shortlisted poetry may be featured on UCL Engineering social media.
  • The prize distribution is the sole responsibility of the winning entrant/ group. The group is responsible for arranging the distribution among themselves.

 

Terms and Conditions for UCL Engineering Instagram Competition 2021 (Induction week t-shirt)


Promoter:

 

  • The UCL (University College London) Engineering Digital Innovation Unit Team is organising the competition. 
  • The competition is in no way sponsored, administered or endorsed by Instagram, Facebook or any other social network. 
  • You are providing your information to the UCL Engineering and that will only be used for the purposes of the competition and prizes related. 

Eligibility: 


The entrants must:

  • be currently registered UCL Engineering students (taught or research)
  • agree that only photos posted on Instagram with the Engineering Faculty account tagged (@UCLEngineering) with the hashtag #changetheworld will be eligible. 
  • acknowledge that by using the above hashtag and tagging the UCL Engineering Faculty Instagram account, students are agreeing to these terms and conditions and that their submitted image, full name, and caption can be (re) posted on the UCL Engineering Faculty Instagram page. 
  • agree that if their photo is selected, their image can be used in promotional material on other social media in order to publicise the competition 
  • ensure that the photo submitted is the property of the entrant and any individuals featured in the image have given their consent for it to be shared for the UCL Engineering Team Instagram competition.

  • The entrant should submit a photo (group or solo) that they feel represents their experience of induction week/start of session. The photo should feature themselves and fellow UCL Engineering students wearing the 2021 UCL Engineering T-shirt.
  • For this competition, we define a “group” as two people or more. The group should be composed of UCL Engineering students only.
  • To be eligible, the entrant should post on their Instagram account with the Engineering Faculty account tagged (@UCLEngineering) with the hashtag #changetheworld. (This image and caption will then be reposted on the Engineering Faculty Instagram account stories)
  • Entrants will receive a direct message from @UCLEngineering on Instagram, acknowledging that their image has been chosen to be posted on the UCL Engineering Faculty Instagram story. This correspondence might ask for the name of the entrant and/or name of the other students featured in the group photo.
  • Entries for submission open at 10 am on Monday 22 November 2021 and close at 4 pm on Monday 5 December. Entries received after this period will not be considered or reposted.
  • The competition will end on Monday 5 December at 4 pm, and a judging panel comprised of the UCL Engineering Digital Innovation Unit team will shortlist five photos on Wednesday 8 December 2021. A judging panel comprised of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences team will then rank the shortlisted photos by order of preference between Wednesday 8 December 2021 and Monday 12 December 2021. Following this ranking, the photo with the overall highest score will be announced as the winner as part of the UCL Engineering Holiday Calendar on Instagram later in December.
  • UCL Engineering Digital Innovation Team reserve the right to change the dates outlined for the competition at any stage. Alternatively, they reserve the right to cancel the competition at any stage and all participants will be notified if this occurs.

The prize:

 

  •  The prize for the group category is £150 (vouchers, shared within the team) and having the winning image and caption featured on UCL Engineering social media. The winning image will also be featured in UCL Engineering digital and print publications. The latter prize is optional as the winner will be asked if they want to feature in this in the email notifying them of winning. The winner might be asked to provide an alternative caption for social media content.
  •  The prize for the solo category is £50 (vouchers) and having the winning image and caption featured on UCL Engineering social media. The winning image will also be featured in UCL Engineering digital and print publications. The latter prize is optional as the winner will be asked if they want to feature in this in the email notifying them of winning. The winner might be asked to provide an alternative caption for social media content.
  • The winner/entrant will be notified during the week of Monday 12 December 2021 and if the winner/entrant does not respond within five calendar days after being contacted, or does not accept the prize(s), the Digital Innovation Unit Team may select another winner in accordance with the process described above (second highest ranking photo etc.).

A judging panel comprised of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences team will then rank the shortlisted photos by order of preference between Wednesday 30 October and Monday 4 November 2019. Following this ranking, the photo with the overall highest score will be announced as the winner during the week of Monday 4 November 2019.

  • The prize is 1 x £200 Leisure Voucher and having the winning image and caption featured on UCL Engineering social media. The winner might be asked to provide an alternative caption for social media content.
  • The winner/entrant will be notified during the week of Monday 4 November 2019 and if the winner/entrant does not respond within five calendar days after being contacted, or does not accept the prize(s), the Digital Innovation Unit Team may select another winner in accordance with the process described above (second highest ranking photo etc.).
